retaliation.
The facility reported that multiple protective measures may be implemented to
prevent retaliation, including housing changes, staff or resident separation, program
or assignment changes, and provision of emotional support services. The PREA
Coordinator confirmed that monitoring may include placement adjustments,
increased supervisory observation, review of disciplinary reports, and ongoing
communication with staff and residents to identify any signs of retaliatory behavior.
NNJDC policy requires active monitoring for at least 90 days following any report of
sexual abuse or sexual harassment, with periodic status checks of individuals who
reported or were involved in an incident. Monitoring may be extended beyond 90
days if ongoing concerns are identified. The PREA Coordinator confirmed this
practice during interview.
The facility reported that there were no allegations of sexual abuse or sexual
harassment during the audit period; therefore, no retaliation monitoring cases or
related documentation were available for review. At the time of the on-site audit, no
residents were being held in isolation or otherwise separated as a protective
measure against retaliation.
