changes as necessary to mitigate risk.
The PREA Coordinator and Director confirmed that staff are trained to respond
immediately to any indication that a resident may be at risk of imminent sexual
abuse. Staff interviews reinforced this expectation, with all randomly selected staff
clearly articulating appropriate immediate response actions, including separation of
involved parties, notification of the supervisor on duty, and increased monitoring to
ensure resident safety. Staff also indicated that residents may be relocated to
another housing unit or pod if necessary to ensure protection.
The PAQ indicated that during the past 12 months, there were no instances in which
the facility determined that a resident was subject to a substantial risk of imminent
sexual abuse, and therefore no related incident documentation was available for
review.
Compliance Determination
Based on a review of facility policy, the Pre-Audit Questionnaire, and staff
interviews, the auditor determined that NNJDC has effective procedures in place to
ensure immediate protective action is taken when a resident is identified as being at
substantial risk of imminent sexual abuse.
Accordingly, the auditor finds that NNJDC meets the requirements of Standard
115.362, and no corrective action is required.
