Most NNJDC staff members have multiple responsibilities, and several staff members were interviewed using multiple protocols corresponding to the specialized duties they perform. The PREA Coordinator identified staff members who perform specialized functions. The auditor then used a random number generator to select the required number of staff interviewees. The PREA Coordinator reviewed the resulting selection and confirmed that the identified staff members provided appropriate representation of the various specialized duties requiring review. SITE REVIEW AND DOCUMENTATION SAMPLING Site Review PREA Standard 115.401 (h) states, "The auditor shall have access to, and shall observe, all areas of the audited facilities." In order to meet the requirements in this Standard, the site review portion of the onsite audit must include a thorough examination of the entire facility. The site review is not a casual tour of the facility. It is an active, inquiring process that includes talking with staff and inmates to determine whether, and the extent to which, the audited facility's practices demonstrate compliance with the Standards. Note: As you are conducting the site review, you must document your tests of critical functions, important information gathered through observations, and any issues identified with facility practices. The information you collect through the site review is a crucial part of the evidence you will analyze as part of your compliance determinations and will be needed to complete your audit report, including the Post- Audit Reporting Information. 71.
