Chief Steve Drew
City of Newport News Police Department
Dear Chief Drew,
We appreciate the opportunity to share our proposal for the Newport News DFR program. We
are confident that Flock Safetyʼs DFR solutions can help the Newport News PD make a
significant impact across the city. The Newport News PD is looking to be at the forefront of
utilizing technology to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of responses to fires, EMS,
and other public safety-related events. They believe that DFR is a significant need going into
2026 to respond sufficiently to increased calls for service and event oversight.
Leveraging drones as a First Responder and getting on the scene within a few minutes of
incoming 911 calls will provide better situational awareness. A shorter response time allows
Newport News PD to get the right equipment on site more quickly, reducing property and life
loss. In addition, Flock DFR can reduce the number of Calls for Services (CFSs) and Newport
News PD's need to dispatch resources. If Newport News PD could reduce the number of CFSs
that require a dispatch by 10%, it would allow your agency to provide better service to the
community. These numbers reflect a growing operational burden that demands innovative
solutions beyond traditional response methods.
The Newport News PD is looking for DFR to make an impact in the summer of 2025, and Flock
Safety is uniquely positioned to get up and running quickly for the following reasons:
Flock Safety has an existing contract in place with your Newport News PD with proven
successes, and our Flock Aerodome technology is differentiated from any other DFR solutions.
Flock Safety's DFR utilizes Radar, allowing our drones to fly up to 400 feet, ensuring minimal
disruption to the public while providing the safest flying conditions.Jump to an indexed page (163 of 163)
