Program for Public Information Annual Progress Report
1.2. SCOPE OF THE PPI ANNUAL PROGRESS REPORT
1.2.1 Requirements
This PPI Annual Progress Report ensures Newport News’ compliance with NFIP’s
requirements for PPI Annual Recertification (listed in Appendix A: Requirements)
by providing:
1. Documentation that the original PPI document has been reviewed and
adjusted this year, as well as
2. Minutes of the meetings, sign-in sheets, or other documentation of The
Committee members’ participation in the annual review.1
Additionally, in its 2024 PPI, the Committee committed to accomplish specific tasks
on a regular basis in order to implement, monitor, and evaluate the program
effectively, including:
• Meeting quarterly to:
o monitor the implementation of outreach projects,
o evaluate project status, outcomes, progress toward PPI goals
o give updates to targeted audiences or messages, and
o identify stakeholders tasked with implementing projects.
• Record revisions to the plan
• And present the updated document to the city council for review as part of
the City’s annual CRS recertification package.
This Annual Progress Report seeks to meet these commitments by serving as a
memorandum of the progress of the past year, as well as a look towards how these
commitments will develop in the coming years. The provisions included in this
Annual Progress Report span meetings and outreach efforts since May 2024 – when
the original PPI document was drafted – through July 2025 – when this report was
submitted.
