d) To better identify sources, a desktop GIS analysis will be conducted within each watershed to identify
sources and conduct a mass input analysis, and nutrient and sediment speciation monitoring shall be
performed for the following parameters:
1) Dissolved Organic Phosphorus (DOP)
2) Dissolved Organic Nitrogen (DON)
3) Volatile Suspended Solids (VSS)
4) Nitrate Isotopes (for one year only)
e) Monitoring for the parameters listed in Part I.C.1.c) shall be in accordance with Part III.A. of this state
permit except as follows:
1) Orthophosphate: Filtering shall be performed upon acceptance of the sample by the laboratory;
2) Orthophosphate: The maximum holding time of the sample is 28 days after immediate freezing; and
3) Preservation of Nitrate plus Nitrite, Ammonia as Nitrogen, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, and Total
Phosphorus shall be performed upon acceptance of the sample by the laboratory.
SPECIFIC REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:
The initial annual report shall include the list of sites to be monitored during the term of the
state permit, copies of any related USGS quarterly monitoring reports, and all monitoring
protocols (e.g., the existing program, trend analysis, mass input analysis, and nitrate isotope
monitoring).
In the second year of the permit cycle, the annual report shall include the results of the USGS
GIS mass input analysis of estimate constituent input sources report, to include the
interpretation completed by the USGS. This will be the only year these results are reported.
In the second year of the permit cycle, the annual report shall include the results of the nitrate
isotope monitoring and analysis, to include the interpretation completed by the USGS. This
will be the only year these results are reported.
In the final year of the permit cycle, the annual report shall include the results of the trend
analysis to include the interpretation completed by the USGS. This will be the only year these
results are reported.
Each annual report shall include a summary of the monitoring results from each sampling
protocol and analyses and an interpretation of that data with respect to either the identification
of long-term patterns and trends or the progress made towards the identification of said
patterns and trends.
