On April 3, I contacted Discovery STEM Academy, where I was informed that
the school’s crisis and emergency management plan was “available online.”
This statement directly conflicts with Virginia Code § 22.1-279.8(B), which
clearly states:
Each school shall maintain a copy of the school safety audit… within the
office of the school principal and shall make a copy of such report available
for review upon written request.
I was never given the opportunity to submit a written request at the school level,
as required by law. That failure prompted me to call the administration office
twice and ultimately visit in person. I did not request this information under
FOIA, due to Ladonna already handeling several FOIA request of mine and I
certainly did not authorize anyone to initiate a request in my name.
Creating and responding to a FOIA request that I did not initiate is not a clerical
error—it is a serious procedural misstep. It misrepresents my intentions, creates
a false paper trail, and risks being used against me in an ongoing legal matter. It
also undermines the fundamental purpose of the Freedom of Information Act:
transparency and accountability through citizen-initiated inquiry—not
institutional fabrication.Jump to an indexed page (7 of 7)
