Uniform crime-reporting duty
Virginia Code § 52-28 requires publicly funded Commonwealth, county and municipal law-enforcement agencies to submit periodic uniform crime reports to State Police. That submission duty does not itself prescribe every choice in a public crime-trend presentation. Evaluating a comparison requires the relevant definitions, reporting periods and underlying data.
The section’s reviewed amendment history ends in 1979 and covers the 2025 reporting context. This entry does not assert a submission failure, statistical error or responsibility for a presentation.
