PROJECT ACTIVITIES For each festival/event, the Institute for Service Research (ISR) agrees to: ➢ Design an online economic impact survey. ➢ Analyze survey data to calculate visitor spending profiles, relative sizes of visitor segments, the spending profiles for those segments, as well as the prevention of economic leakage due to the festival/event. ➢ Build and calculate IMPLAN economic impact models including direct, indirect, and induced effects. ➢ Draft a 20-30 page report that details the economic impacts of the festival/event employing such metrics as spending by non-locals, economic output, estimated hotel room nights, tax revenue generation (and municipal ROI upon request, if City provides municipal expenditures). ➢ Deliver a presentation of findings in Newport News. For each festival/event, the client agrees to: ➢ Utilize email and social media channels (as well as other possible communication channels) to encourage anyone who attended the given festival/event to complete the economic impact survey. In addition to the above-described survey solicitations, during un-ticketed events, the client agrees to post survey signage (QR codes with incentive), make survey solicitation announcements, and/or distribute survey solicitation hand-outs. ➢ Complete a 1-2 page data input sheet for needed model inputs such as estimated festival/event attendance per segment, sponsor and/or vendor revenues (if any), and estimated municipal spending on the festival/event. {Project Timeline Begins on Next Page} _________________________________________________________________________________ Institute for Service Research SOW: The Economic and Fiscal Impacts of Newport News’ Festivals and Events Page 2 of 7
