Brady/Giglio: official sources and open records
Official Newport News list not obtained. Review the NNPD disclosure policy, dated DCJS decisions and the records needed from the prosecutor, police, sheriff and DCJS.
Overview
As of October 10, 2026, no official Newport News prosecutor list, restricted-witness index or officer notification letters were obtained. No employee has been labeled Brady/Giglio-listed. Private Giglio-Brady/OpenOversight databases provide leads, not proof of prosecutor designation. Absence of a retrieved record is unknown status, not a clean-record determination.
Source notes
Certification decisions, suppression rulings, lawsuit allegations and private database entries are different types of evidence. Publish a named Brady/Giglio entry only when an authenticated official list/notice or comparably direct official record identifies the officer, agency, date and disposition. Resolve reversals, corrections and similar names first. Search coverage is bounded.

Criminal-case disclosure framework
Brady and Giglio require disclosure of favorable material evidence, including evidence affecting witness credibility, in criminal proceedings. Kyles includes favorable evidence known to police acting for the prosecution in the case. These holdings do not themselves establish a public employee list or an individual’s designation, and case-specific materiality remains important.
Brady (1963), Giglio (1972) and Kyles (1995). This entry states the constitutional disclosure framework; it makes no claim about any local list or named employee.
