Support resolution, voter approval and tax ordinance
School Board Resolution 27-01 expresses support for a one-percent school-capital sales tax. Under current Virginia law, voter approval and the City Council’s tax-imposing ordinance are separate steps; the Board’s support resolution does neither. The support document should therefore be read separately from referendum authorization, certified election results and any later ordinance imposing the tax.
Current § 58.1-605.1(A)(2)–(3) checked October 12, 2026. The statutory edition and effective clauses governing the July 2026 resolutions were not independently verified. This paragraph describes the current legal sequence, not the validity of those earlier actions or a referendum outcome.
